Generation Z (ages 12-25 years) is currently the largest generation in Africa with over 428 million people making up 31.20% of the population. By 2030, young Africans are expected to make up 42% of the world’s youth and account for 75% of those under 35 yrs.

Dealing with the impact of the last few years, which includes the ripple effects of the pandemic, Gen Z youth are deeply concerned about the state of the world and are actively trying to balance the challenges of their lives with their desire to drive societal change. Those new to the workforce, are struggling with financial anxiety, lack of work/life balance, and consistently high-stress levels. They feel burned out, and many are taking on second jobs while pushing for more purposeful and flexible work. This points to an urgent need and opportunity for business leaders to redefine the educational pathways from secondary school onwards, and the talent experience to better meet peoples’ needs. The urgency lies in the fact that the future of our continent’s prosperity depends on all generations being able to effectively cooperate, collaborate, and innovate WITH Gen Z. The CHALLENGE is there are some generational gaps in communication and methods used to motivate younger generations towards ‘success.’

This session will build upon last year's live podcast topic and this time will aim to seek the viewpoints from a diverse panel (both Gen Z AND non-Gen Z) on how to navigate the future of work and leadership in various sectors and what these implications are for the continent.

We will explore the following:
- How do we prepare GenZ to lead the continent effectively?
- How should older generation employers/entrepreneurs hiring Gen Z to prepare THEMSELVES to lead effectively?
